Description
Wayside Cottage is a cottage dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It features a timber frame encased in colourwashed brick and has a thatched roof. This small, one-and-a-half storey building has three bays and is positioned end on to the road, with 18th century stone at the far end. The entrance door is located at the road end, and there is a blocked doorway between the road end and the centre bay, which originally had a baffle entry. The cottage has four two-light casement windows, with two located in the centre bay. There are also two eyebrow dormers above the centre and far bay, each containing two-light casements. The roof is half-hipped, and there is a small stack above the door. The structure sits on a flint plinth and is built of oversized Beauworth bricks, topped with thatch.
