Description
Wentways is a cottage that has been divided into two dwellings, dating from the 16th and 18th centuries. It features a timber-frame structure that is encased in brick, with additional elements added later. The building has a thatched roof and consists of three bays, with lean-to extensions added to each end and a wing at the rear on the right side. The right bay, along with the lean-to and wing, forms a separate dwelling, accessible through a door located at the right end, with a link roof connecting the wing to the corner cottage.
The front of the building is 1½ storeys high and has three bays, with lean-to bays on either end. There is a doorway to the left of the central bay, which is sheltered by a 19th-century tiled gabled porch made of oversized Beauworth brick. On either side of this doorway are 20th-century two-light leaded casement windows, along with one at the right end and three similar single casements in the right bay. The roof features three eyebrow dormers, each with two-light casements, and there are hip stacks at both ends of the building.
