Description

No. 213 is a house that dates back to the 16th century, possibly even earlier, with a front added in the early 18th century and heightened in the early 19th century. The exterior features mathematically-laid tiles with a stucco band over the first floor and stuccoed rusticated quoins. It has a bracketed wooden eaves cornice that conceals the roof, which has a stack to the right and another stack behind the ridge to the right. The building has three storeys, with three windows on the second floor and a regular five-window front below, where the outer pairs of windows are more closely grouped. The windows are glazing bar sashes set in wide stuccoed surrounds. The central entrance features a panelled door with a blocked fanlight, surrounded by Doric columns and an entablature hood. To the right, there is a two-storey 18th-century extension made of yellow brick, topped with a hipped plain tiled roof and a ridge stack. This extension has three windows on the first floor and a central Palladian window on the ground floor, with a single window flanking to the right. All windows in the extension are also glazing bar sashes. To the right of the house, there is a wall approximately five yards long and about 12 feet high, with spearhead railings along the entire front, except for the section with larger spearhead standards.
