Description
Baigens is a house dating from the 16th century, which was reclad in the early 19th century and has had minor changes in the 20th century. The building features brick walls laid in Flemish and Flemish Garden Wall bond, with cambered and rubbed flat arches and a plinth. It has a half-hipped tiled roof with gables and a catslide at the rear. The west side has been extended to a lower eaves above an outshot, and there is a massive tapered stack at the east end. The south front has two storeys and four windows with casements. The plain doorway is surrounded by a porch made of greenery on a wire frame. Inside, the framework is exposed, and there is a series of mural paintings from the Elizabethan period.
