Description
Nos 9 and 10 Market Street is a row of houses dating from the 19th century. The ground floor is constructed of brick, with the left house painted and set on a brick plinth, while the right house is plastered. The first floor features black glazed mathematical tiles, and the second floor has plain tile hanging. The building has a plain tiled roof with a wooden modillion eaves cornice and chimney stacks on the ridge, positioned to the left of each house.
The structure stands three storeys high and has a four-window front. Nos 9 and 10 each have one window, while No 11 has two windows. The first floor of Nos 9 and 10 includes canted bays, with every other window featuring glazing bar sashes. No 10 has a single late 19th-century shopfront with a panelled door to the left and a mid-19th-century shopfront to the right, which has an entrance angled at the corner of the block. There is a recessed entrance to the right of centre for No 11, topped with a soldier course. No 9 has a moulded arched entrance with key- and impost blocks, featuring a half-glazed door with a fanlight above.
