Description
No 4 Market Street is a shop dating from the early 19th century. It features grey headers with red brick dressings and has wide eaves beneath a slate roof, which has a stack on the right side of the ridge. The building's front curves from Market Lane into Market Street, although it is described as if it were straight, with a ninety-degree curve to the right of the central window bays. The structure is three storeys high and has a three-window front, with the windows widely spaced. These are glazing bar sashes set in dressed surrounds with gauged heads, and the second-floor windows are slightly shallower than those on the lower floors. There is a doorway beneath the central window, featuring double doors. The entrance has a plain pilastered surround that supports a frieze and a flat hood, which extends to the left and right over wide early 19th-century shop windows, also with pilastered surrounds.
