Description
This is a row of six houses, numbered 8 to 12, located on the north side of Little East Street in Lewes. They were built in the early 19th century. The houses are constructed of grey brick with red brick quoins and dressings. The roofs are slate, with a stepped design between houses 8 and 9 and again between houses 10 and 11. Each house has a brick ridge stack on its right-hand side. A single flat-headed dormer window is located over house number 9. The row presents a five-window facade, with each house separated by a thin red brick quoin, and the terrace stepping down slightly between houses 8 and 9 and houses 10 and 11. The windows are sash windows throughout, with glazing bars in the windows of houses 9 and 10. They are set within red brick surrounds with gauged brick heads. Each house has an arched doorway on its left side, with a panelled door in house number 9; the remaining doorways have half-glazed doors. Each doorway also features a plain fanlight, which are painted in houses 11 and 12.
