Description

SU 62 NW WARNFORD 1/4 Wellhouse 2 metres south 30.9.86 of Bere Farmhouse GV II Well house and store. C18, with early C19 extension. Timber-framed structure with brick infill: part of brickwork and also flint with brick dressings. Hipped tile roof. A square block with later outshot at the south side: the northern half is an open frame, which supports the massive wood axle of a treadmill (or donkey wheel), arranged above a well head. The large wheel has eight wood spokes and a boarded rim (or footway). The other part of the structure is enclosed, with three boarded doors.
