Description

This is a late 18th-century house above a shop, with additions and alterations from the early and late 19th century. It is located on West Street, Hambledon. The walls are painted brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with rubbed flat arches, and a parapet is present on the west side. The roof is tiled. The building is composed of two parts, with the east side being lower. The north front elevation has two storeys and originally had 2.3 windows. It features exposed frame sashes on the east side, with Victorian sashes on the west. A continuous ground-floor shopfront runs the length of the building, with three splayed bays and two doorways, topped by a cornice and frieze supported on pilasters. The house entrance is a three-panel door, and the shop entrance has half-glazed double doors. The property is included on the list for its group value.
