Description
The cottage at the east end of Duck Row is an early 18th-century building that has been altered in the late 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone and features a stone slate roof with three ashlar ridge stacks. The cottage is two storeys high and has an irregular north elevation with ten bays.
On the ground floor, from right to left, there is a single light window with a stone surround, followed by a 19th-century two-light casement window set in a former doorway that has stone jambs and a lintel inscribed with "G.E.S. 1709." To the left, there is a doorway with a stone lintel and a 20th-century half-glazed door, three 19th-century two-light casements under stone lintels, a single light window at half height, a blocked doorway, another 19th-century two-light casement, a 20th-century window set in a former doorway, and a single light casement.
Above, there are five 19th-century two-light casements and a single light window in a stone surround. This cottage is included in the listing for its group value only.
