Description
This is a pair of cottages located at the west end of Duck Row, dating from the mid-18th century, with later alterations in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The cottages are constructed from coursed squared sandstone and ashlar, featuring a chamfered plinth and flush quoins. They have a stone slate roof with ashlar gable stacks and a brick ridge stack.
The north elevation consists of five bays. The right-hand cottage is double fronted, with two stone steps leading up to a central doorway that has a stone lintel and quoins, along with a half-glazed door. This doorway is flanked by two 2-light casement windows set in chamfered ashlar surrounds, with three similar windows located above.
The left cottage features three stone steps leading up to its doorway, which is also framed by a stone lintel and jambs, and has a bracketed stone hood above the half-glazed door. A datestone with a rounded top is positioned above this door, inscribed with the dates 1753 and 1971. To the left of this doorway are two 2-light casement windows with chamfered ashlar surrounds, with two similar windows above.
