Description
Duck Row, Middle Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the 17th century and was altered in the early 20th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble sandstone with ashlar dressings and quoins, topped with a stone slate roof featuring coped gables and moulded kneelers. A stone finial is located on the northwest kneeler, and there are paired ashlar ridge and gable stacks.
The cottage is two storeys high, with the north elevation consisting of four bays. The off-centre doorway has an ashlar surround and a bracketed hood, leading to a plank door. To the left of the door is a 2-light chamfered mullion window. To the right is a full-height canted bay window with a configuration of 1-2-1 lights, a moulded cornice, and a hipped roof that also features a stone finial. Further to the right, there is a 3-light chamfered mullion window. On the first floor, from the left, there are two 2-light chamfered mullion windows, the upper part of the canted bay, and a 3-light chamfered mullion window.
