Description

Mill Bridge is a bridge built in 1664, with later restoration. It is constructed from ashlar gritstone and limestone rubble. The bridge features three segmental arches, with two ribs on the west side and limestone rubble on the east side. There are two cutwaters between the arches, which rise to create V-shaped recesses in the parapet wall above. A stringcourse runs over the arches, and the parapet wall is slightly recessed. The copings on the river faces are chamfered, while the inner walls are flush. At each end, the walls splay outwards. On the east side, facing the road, there is a stone inscribed with 'M Hyde 1664'.
