Description
Old Mill House is a 18th-century miller's house located on the west side of Mill Lane in Ashford in the Water. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with gritstone dressings and chamfered quoins, topped with a stone slate roof. It features stone coped gables with moulded kneelers and stone gable end stacks with plain banding, as well as a moulded eaves cornice. The house is two storeys high with three bays, and there is a single storey addition to the east.
The central doorcase has a bracketed stone hood and a flush surround, with a flush panelled door that includes two top panels that are glazed. On either side of the door, there are flush 2-light mullion windows. Above the door, there are two similar windows and a single light flush window. All the windows are original casements. The addition to the east has a wide 20th-century window that is in a similar style.
