Description

The Firs is a house dating from the mid-18th century, situated in the parish of Eyam. It is constructed of coursed squared gritstone with gritstone dressings and quoins, and has a stone slate roof covered by stone coped gables featuring moulded kneelers. The house has stone gable end stacks with plain banding. The house has three bays and two storeys. The central doorway has a C19 glazed panelled door within a flush doorcase. Three-light flush mullion windows are situated on either side of the door, with similar windows above. The original fenestration consists of fixed leaded lights, although some have been replaced with C20 opening casements that are leaded in a similar style. A three-light recessed and chamfered window is present at the rear. Inside, there is a good contemporary staircase.
