Description

Haddon Barn is a house that was originally built as a barn in the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the early and late 20th centuries. The building is constructed from random limestone and gritstone rubble, featuring gritstone dressings, and has a stone slate roof with brick gable end and ridge stacks, including two brick ridge stacks that rise from the midpoint of the roof's pitch.

It is a single storey plus attic storey structure with irregular window arrangements. The south elevation has a central flush doorcase with a glazed panelled door beneath a glazed porch that has decorative bargeboards. To the west, there is a 19th-century plain sash window in a punched stone surround, followed by a glazed panelled door in a similar surround. Further west, there are two more plain sashes with a pair of 20th-century garage doors beyond. To the east of the central door, there is a thin plain sash, and beyond that, two wider sashes, both in punched stone surrounds. Between these two wider sashes, there is a roofed garden seat with glazed sides. Above these, there are five flat-roofed half dormers with plain sashes, and above the central door, there is a shallow roof dormer.

The north and east elevations feature chamfered mullion and transom windows, which were likely added in the early 20th century to match the renovations occurring at Haddon Hall across the road. The building is included in the register for its group value.
