Description
The Main Bridge over the River Wye at Haddon Hall is a bridge built in 1663, with later repairs. It is constructed of coursed squared gritstone and features three stepped segmental arches. The bridge has plain low parapets that are canted towards the center and topped with copings, which are chamfered only on the water sides. There are large triangular sectioned cutwaters between the arches on both sides, extending to the full height of the bridge. The walls are splayed at either end. Surviving dated accounts for the bridge can be found in the archives of the Duke of Rutland.
