Description
This cottage, which was originally two separate cottages, dates from the late 18th century. It is built from coursed rubble gritstone and features quoins, plain gables, end ridge stacks, and a roof covered with Welsh slate. The building is two storeys high and has three bays. On the first floor, there are two 2-light flush mullioned windows with four-paned 19th-century casement frames. The ground floor has former 2-light mullioned openings that now contain casements and fixed light frames, all set in old stone surrounds.
In the center, there are coupled doorways with massive jambs and lintels; the doorway to the west is now blocked and has an inserted window, while the doorway to the east features a four-panelled door. At the west end, there is an advanced lean-to outbuilding with a massive surround to its doorway and a stone slated roof. The boundary wall is made of massive vertical flagstones.
