Description
The Harness Room and Squire Whites are two houses, one of which was originally stables, built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from regularly coursed gritstone and feature projecting quoins, coved eaves, coped gables, moulded kneelers, and both intermediate and end ridge ashlar stacks. The roofs are covered with stone slates and concrete tiles, and the buildings are arranged in an 'L' plan.
The house section is two storeys high and has two bays. It features projecting frames around the openings, with the first-floor windows having 19th-century casements. The ground floor windows have semi-circular heads with keyblocks and small paned frames that include intersecting tracery at the tops. There is a semi-circular headed doorway with quoins, a semi-circular stone hood, and a four-panelled door.
The stable section has an irregular elevation that includes two large arched carriage openings with keyblocks, along with two doorways that also have projecting quoins and semi-circular heads with keyblocks. The upper floor has openings, one of which features a pointed arched head and 20th-century joinery.
