Description
The Methodist Schoolroom, dated 1837, is a Wesleyan Chapel constructed from regularly coursed gritstone featuring projecting quoins, plain eaves, and a Welsh slated roof. It is a single-storey building with two bays, characterized by tall Venetian windows with cast iron frames and Gothic glazing. These windows flank a central doorway that has massive stone jambs and a semi-circular head with a keyblock. The door is plain and planked. The entrance is complemented by plain gatepiers topped with pyramidal caps, along with a spear-headed iron gate and matching railings. These are set against a rubble limestone boundary wall that has chamfered copings. Above the doorway, there is a plaque inscribed with 'Primitive Methodists MDCCCXXXVII'.
