Description
Bank House is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations from the 18th century and additions from the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble gritstone, featuring quoins, moulded copings, and kneelers, with a central ashlar stack and a stone slate roof. The building has a 'T' plan, is two storeys high with attics, and has a two-bay main range. Most of the original 2-light flush mullioned windows have been altered, except for one, which remains, while the others have been replaced with sash frames or leaded casements. There is an off-centre door that has an added semi-circular hood above a quoined door surround, with a six-panelled door that has the upper two panels glazed. The other elevations still show several flush mullioned 2-light openings. A 19th-century canted bay has been added to the northeast end, featuring an open balustraded parapet. The property is enclosed by a tall boundary wall on the northern side, which includes a pair of square gate piers topped with semi-circular headed moulded caps.
