Description

Roystone Grange Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse located on Minninglow Lane, in the parish of Ballidon. The farmhouse is constructed of coursed rubble limestone, partly pebble dashed, with gritstone dressings and has a plain tile roof, featuring a brick ridge stack and gable end stacks. The building follows a T-shaped plan. The south elevation is pebble dashed and features a central doorway with a pointed stone surround, now fitted with a 20th-century half-glazed door. It is flanked by two-light, square-sectioned mullion windows with 19th-century casements. The facade has two similar windows on the second floor, a single-light window above the doorway, and two further, smaller windows on the third floor. All stone window surrounds are pointed. Attached to the east are lower 19th-century barns. Their south side has three doorways with chamfered stone quoins and lintels, stepped downhill, with one later doorway added. There is also a single first-floor opening with a chamfered surround.
