Description
Ballidonhall Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, 18th century, and early 19th century. It is built from coursed rubble limestone with gritstone dressings and features plain tile roofs with stone coped gables on the main range, along with brick gable end stacks. The building has a T-plan layout, with a lower rear wing, and is two to three storeys high, displaying quoins.
The west elevation was remodeled in the early 19th century and consists of three bays. It features a central doorway with a round arch, which has a stone surround with projecting imposts and a keystone. The doorway is fitted with a 20th-century glazed door and a fanlight above. On either side of the doorway are glazing bar sash windows with stone surrounds, and there are three similar windows located above.
Evidence of the original 17th-century house can be seen in the north and south gable ends. The north gable end has two 2-light recessed chamfer mullion windows with dripmoulds positioned high up, along with two blocked single lights above. The south gable end features four tiers of blocked windows and one recessed chamfered light on the second floor. The rear wing has two 18th-century 3-light square sectioned mullion windows on the north side.
