Description
Merrill House is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of rendered stone with gritstone dressings and has a stone slate roof. The building features a central stone ridge stack and a stone gable end stack on the east side.
The house is two storeys high and has two bays. The central entrance is marked by a chamfered quoined doorcase that contains a 20th-century door and a hoodmould that extends eastward over a 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion window fitted with 19th-century sashes. To the west, there is a 20th-century 3-light casement window. On the upper floor, there are two recessed and chamfered 2-light mullion windows, each with wide hoodmoulds above. Inside, the house features a 17th-century wall cupboard.
