Description
Butts View is an early 19th-century house located in Bakewell, constructed from coursed dressed sandstone with a Welsh slate roof. The building is two storeys high and features a symmetrical facade with a three-window range. On the right side, there are large quoins. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door, with the top two panels being glazed, set within a wooden doorcase that has a pediment supported by shaped brackets. The windows have projecting stone sills and raised ashlar surrounds, with broad 10/10 sash windows. The central first-floor window is unique, featuring two eight-pane casements divided by an original stone mullion. The building also has an eaves band, ashlar gable copings, and a brick stack on the left side. The interior has not been inspected. Butts View forms a matching pair with Spring Cottage, which is located to the left.
