Description

Green Cowden Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse built in the Tudor Revival style. It features coursed limestone with ashlar sandstone dressings and a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and an L-shaped plan, with a three-window range on the entrance front and a five-window range on the left return.

The exterior includes a chamfered plinth and large quoins. The central doorway is accessed by rectangular stone steps and is framed by an ovolo-moulded Tudor-arched surround with a hoodmould. The windows consist of three lights to the left, five lights to the right, and a combination of two, two, and four lights on the first floor. All windows have casements with horizontal glazing bars in double-chamfered surrounds, pointed-arched lights, and hoodmoulds. The first bay features a band across the front gable with shaped kneelers and gable copings, and there is a renewed ashlar stack with a band and cornice located on the ridge at the rear. The right end gable also has kneelers and copings.

On the left return, there are cavetto-moulded, two-light mullioned windows with triangular-headed lights, mostly fitted with iron casements and glazing bars. A restored stone-slated bellcote is fixed to the rear face of the chimney stack. The interior has not been inspected.
