Description

The south gates to Hassop Hall were built in 1853 by the architects Weightman, Hadfield, and Goldie. They are made of sandstone ashlar and wrought iron. The driveway is bordered by rusticated piers that have square caps and acorn finials, with pedestrian gateways also featuring rusticated piers and more elaborate finials. The gates are connected by round arches. The flanking walls curve out in quarter circles towards the road and end in rusticated piers, topped with plain copings. The decorative wrought iron gates complete the entrance. These gates are noted for their group value within the context of Hassop Park.
