Description

The ice house in Hassop Park is likely from the early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble limestone, primarily using drystone techniques along with some brickwork. The entrance passage is a simple dogleg shape, featuring drystone walls and slab lintels, leading to a doorway on the left with a plain chamfered surround. There is a circular chute hole with a stone lid that has two ring pulls. Inside, the chamber is circular and domed, made of brick.
