Description
This is a pigeoncote located 20 metres northwest of the entrance gatehouse to Haddon Hall, built in 1614 and restored in the early 20th century. The structure features limestone rubble at the first stage and coursed squared gritstone at the second stage, with gritstone dressings and quoins. It has a pyramidal stone slate roof with lead flashings and a small cupola at the top. A moulded stringcourse runs around the building between the two stages. The pigeoncote is two storeys high, single bay, and square in plan. On the north side, there is a flush chamfered quoined doorcase with a plank door, and the lintel is dated '1614'. Above the door, there are 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows on all sides.
