Description
The Ringinglow Roundhouse is a toll house, dating to circa 1778, and later altered in the mid and late 20th century. It is constructed of stone, with a rendered exterior and colourwashed ground floor, and has a pyramidal slate roof with a rendered stack. The building is designed in a Gothic style and features an octagonal plan. It has a plinth, two string courses, moulded wooden eaves, and a pseudo-crenellated parapet. The upper floor has two blank lancet windows, flanked by single lancet windows with glazing bars. Above, a blank quatrefoil is visible on each side. The ground floor includes a plank door with a Gothick traceried pointed overlight, flanked by two lancet windows. To the right of the door is a single-storey square addition with crude castellations. A blank lancet and a small gabled porch are located at the rear. The interior has not been inspected. A single-storey addition with castellations is to the right of the main door.
