Description

Castle Hill Cottage and Castle Hill Farmhouse are two houses, likely built in the late 18th century, with some alterations and additions from the 20th century. They are constructed of rubble limestone with ashlar sandstone dressings, featuring stone slate and concrete tile roofs.

The exterior consists of two storeys and a five-window range. The left end bay is a 20th-century addition and has a higher roof, along with the adjacent end bay of the original structure. The building has large quoins. Castle Hill Farmhouse, located to the right, has a central doorway with a boarded door set in a triangular-headed stone surround. It features projecting stone sills and quoined surrounds to eight 8/8 horizontally-sliding sash windows, with matching 6/6 sashes above. There is an end stack on the right and a larger ridge stack on the party wall.

Castle Hill Cottage, to the left, is generally similar in style; however, its original doorway has been replaced with a French window. The original left end bay now sits beneath the taller roof of the matching 20th-century addition. It has an ashlar end stack and a ridge stack. The interior has not been inspected.
