Description
Ivy Cottage and Castle House are a pair of houses dating from the mid to late 18th century, with later additions and alterations. They are constructed from hammer-dressed limestone and feature a pantile roof with brick stacks. The buildings consist of two parallel ranges beneath an M-shaped roof, with a cross wing at the rear.
The main facade is two storeys high and has four bays. The entrance to Ivy Cottage is located in the third bay, featuring a half-glazed late 20th century door set under a wedge lintel. The entrance to Castle House is found on the left return. On the ground floor, there are two four-pane sash windows to the left and a 16-pane sash window to the right, the latter also set under a wedge lintel. The first floor has 16-pane sash windows, all positioned under wedge lintels. The buildings have ridge and end stacks and are included for their group value.
