Description
The shelter sheds located approximately 90 yards south of Westnewton House date from the early 19th century. They are constructed from random rubble and feature roofs made of pantiles and Welsh slate. The buildings are single-storey and consist of a long range at the rear with five projecting sections that create four yards. Each yard has a rear range with one segmental arch. The projecting sections are supported by cast-iron columns. Two of these sections culminate in turnip houses, which also have segmental arches and boarded double doors. The roofs are gabled with flat copings. Inside the turnip houses, there are hatches that open directly onto stone feeding troughs located in the shelter sheds.
