Description
The Davison gravestone, located approximately 7 yards south of the Church of St. Gregory, is a chest tomb dating from 1738 and features various dates. It is constructed of ashlar stone. The sides of the chest are adorned with angle pilasters and additional pilasters in the center of the long sides, with worn decorative panels in between. The top of the tomb has a rounded edge, a broad chamfer, and a flat surface. The chamfered west end displays a coat of arms flanked by the date 1738 in high relief letters, along with a worn inscription around the edge. The inscriptions on the top include a tribute to James Davison of Lanton, who passed away on March 27th, 1767, at the age of 101 years.
