SCALBY CARR LANE (north side) Prospect House Farmhouse

Farmhouse, 1817. Coursed vertical-milled sandstone to front, painted c1970; herringbone-tooled stone to sides and rear. Slate roof to front, flagged to-rear. Brick stacks. Central entrance hall plan, one and a half rooms deep, with lean-to service rooms to each side. 2-storey, symmetrical 3-window front, with single-storey extensions to each side. Stone steps to centre 6-panel door with rectangular fanlight. Doorcase of pilaster jambs with imposts, supporting a cornice which breaks forward over the jambs. 16-pane sashes with channelled wedge lintels throughout. Raised bands at first floor and eaves level, with coped parapet above. To rear: boarded door and 16-pane sashes with milled wedge lintels. Circular window with moulded surround to left gable wall. Coped gables with kneelers at rear, and end stacks. Interior: fireplaces to ground floor front rooms, and doorcase to room on left, have squared, grooved surrounds with paterae. C18 doors to front rooms, boarded doors to service rooms.
