Description
Prospect House Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in 1817. The front is made of coursed vertical-milled sandstone, which was painted around 1970, while the sides and rear feature herringbone-tooled stone. The front has a slate roof, and the rear is flagged. There are brick stacks on the roof. The layout includes a central entrance hall plan that is one and a half rooms deep, with lean-to service rooms on each side.
The farmhouse is two stories high and has a symmetrical three-window front, with single-storey extensions on either side. Stone steps lead up to a central six-panel door that has a rectangular fanlight above it. The doorcase features pilaster jambs with imposts, supporting a cornice that breaks forward over the jambs. Throughout the building, there are 16-pane sash windows with channelled wedge lintels. Raised bands are present at the first floor and eaves level, topped with a coped parapet.
At the rear, there is a boarded door and 16-pane sashes with milled wedge lintels. A circular window with a moulded surround is located on the left gable wall. The rear also has coped gables with kneelers and end stacks. Inside, the ground floor front rooms have fireplaces, and the doorcase to the room on the left features squared, grooved surrounds with paterae. The front rooms have 18th-century doors, while the service rooms have boarded doors.
