Description
Moor Houses Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in 1802, as indicated by the datestone, with some modern updates from the 20th century. It is constructed from herringbone-tooled sandstone and features a concrete pantile roof. The building has a direct-entry plan and is one and a half rooms deep, with two stories and a two-window front. There is a 20th-century panelled door to the right of the center, which is located beneath an overlight that has been blocked by the datestone inscribed "IS:1802". The ground-floor windows are two-light, small-pane casements, while the first-floor has a similar window to the right and a two-light, 12-pane horizontal-sliding sash to the left. The sills and lintels are painted herringbone-tooled. The eaves course is coved and returns at each end, with coped gables and shaped kneelers. There are end stacks, one of which has been rebuilt.
Inside, the original boxed stairs are located along the rear wall. There is a plank cupboard door beneath the stairs, featuring butterfly and H-L hinges. Above the front door, there are raised and fielded panelled cupboard doors with small butterfly hinges. The first-floor doors consist of four raised and fielded panels.
