Description
Kirby Balk is a house built in the early 19th century, with later alterations and extensions made in the 19th century. It features coursed limestone rubble with irregular quoins on the upper courses at the rear and has a pantile roof with brick stacks. The house has a central-entry plan and is two stories high with a two-window front. There is a single-storey outbuilding to the left and a lean-to outbuilding to the right. The central entrance consists of a plank door set within a timber porch. To the left, there is a 16-pane sash window, and to the right, a large-pane, two-light horizontal-sliding sash window. The first-floor windows align with those on the ground floor. All openings are topped with roughly tooled lintels, and the building has coped gables and end stacks. The outbuilding on the left features an 8-pane fixed light and a board door, both with roughly tooled lintels. The extruded pent shed on the right is not of interest.
