Description
The farm buildings located approximately 10 metres south-east of Hazel House were built in 1824, as indicated by the datestone. Constructed from tooled sandstone with a pantile roof, this structure includes loose boxes, a cart-shed, and a stable with a loft above, along with pigsties that have a hen-house above them.
The central cart-shed is two storeys high, flanked by a one-and-a-half-storey range of pigsties on the right and a single-storey range of loose boxes on the left. The left side features double board doors beneath a segmental cart arch made of tooled shaped voussoirs on rolled imposts. The datestone in the centre is inscribed with "I W F 1824." To the right, there is a stable door and two similar doors leading to the pigsties, each with feeding troughs nearby. The left range has two stable doors separated by three square window openings, two of which are slatted, all with tooled lintels.
Each range has coped gables, and the right gable end features an external flight of stone steps leading to a board door for the hen-house, with a square pivoting light above that has small panes. This finely-built and well-preserved range of farm buildings is situated beside the only road along the west side of the Dale.
