Description
The barn and stables at Church Houses Farm date from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. They are constructed from roughly dressed stone, with dressed stone and ashlar dressings, and feature pantile roofs with ashlar coped gables. The building is arranged in a T-plan, with the barn running north-south on a sloping site and the stables attached to the south end, stretching east-west.
The barn includes breathers and a single plank door on the west side, along with a lean-to timber addition on the east side. The stable range features three stable doorways on the left, each with ashlar lintels and 20th-century plank doors, and rectangular feeding slots between them. The central gabled section has two similar stable doorways, with a small loft doorway above in the gable apex, also with a plank door. The right section contains four irregularly spaced stable doorways of the same style. The east gable has a canted corner with double plank doors, and the rear facade has a single plank door.
