Description

FARNDALE EAST DALESIDE ROAD SE 69 NE (south-west side) 4/50 Farmbuildings approximately 10 metres south-west of Hollins Farmhouse GV II Cart-shed, pigsties, stable and cowsheds with lofts over. 1825 on datestone. By John Foord, probably for himself. Dressed sandstone, some herringbone-tooled; pantile roof. 2-storey, 5-bay window front, with single-storey, lean-to building to left. Segmental cart arch of tooled and shaped voussoirs to left, with datestone to centre. Datestone inscribed: I F 1825 Lean-to pigsty to end left, with 3 feeding troughs. All remaining ground floor openings are doorways, some with plank stable doors, with bordered herringbone-tooled lintels. Loft openings are square, some with 4-pane glazing bars. Gable wall to right: doorway with plain lintel and monolithic jambs. Pigeoncote in gable end, with stone landing platform. Included for group value.
