Description
This building is a group of farm structures located approximately 10 metres south-west of Hollins Farmhouse, dating from 1825 as indicated by a datestone. It was constructed by John Foord, likely for his own use. The buildings are made of dressed sandstone, with some sections featuring herringbone tooling, and they have a pantile roof.
The complex consists of a cart-shed, pigsties, a stable, and cowsheds, all with lofts above. The front is two-storey with five bays, and there is a single-storey lean-to building on the left. To the left, there is a segmental cart arch made of tooled and shaped voussoirs, with the datestone positioned in the center. The lean-to pigsty on the left includes three feeding troughs.
The ground floor has several doorways, some fitted with plank stable doors, and these doorways have bordered herringbone-tooled lintels. The loft openings are square, with some featuring 4-pane glazing bars. On the right gable wall, there is a doorway with a plain lintel and monolithic jambs, and a pigeoncote is present in the gable end, complete with a stone landing platform. The buildings are included for their group value.
