Description
The spring trough located to the west of Hornby House is a Grade II listed structure, likely dating from the 18th century. It is made of stone, iron, and ceramic materials. The trough has a wedge shape with a rounded narrow end that is set into the hillside, and it is incorporated into a low wall of rough masonry. To the left of the trough, there is a stone bucket rest, and a step is positioned in front of it. Water from the spring flows through a stoneware pipe that is set into the rear wall of the trough. The trough is designed to dip at the left side to allow for overflow, which is covered by an iron grille.
