Description
Sea View, also known as No. 2, is one of a pair of cottages built in the early 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. The cottage is constructed from white-washed sandstone and features a pantile roof with a brick stack. It has a central-entry plan and is one and a half stories tall, with a one-window front. The entrance consists of a boarded door flanked by square tripartite windows that have central sashes and plain lintels. On the left side, there is a raking dormer that includes a two-light, large-pane horizontal sliding sash. The right gable is coped with a plain kneeler, and there is a stack at the right end. The right return displays a reverse crow-stepped gable.
Inside, at the rear of the room on the right, there is a boxed winder stair with a panelled door on butterfly hinges, along with exposed roughly-hewn beams. In the room on the left, there is a painted plain stone fire surround that features a 19th-century cast iron grate and attractive late 19th-century tiles.
