Description
The Wilson Arms is a public house located in Sneaton Village, dating from the early 19th century, with later alterations and extensions from the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features whitewashed render, applied timber framing, and painted tooled dressings, topped with a pantile roof and stone stacks. It is two stories high with a four-window front.
On the left side, there is a central board door set in a raised surround with a flat hoodmould, which is sheltered by a pent porch. To the right, there is a similar doorway that has been blocked by a sixteen-pane sash window. The ground floor also includes a small-pane tripartite sash window with a raised surround and mullions in the center. Each end of the building and the first floor features similar two-light windows.
Above the altered doorway on the first floor, there is a low-relief carving of the Wilson arms. The building has coped gables and plain kneelers, with end and center stacks. An applied timberwork and a 20th-century extension on the right side are not considered of special interest.
