Description
RUSWARP STATION is a railway station built around 1850, designed by G.T. Andrews in the Tudor style. The building features coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and slate roofs that have overhanging eaves and decorative bargeboards with finials. It includes single and double external chimneys, as well as a triple ridge chimney, all topped with moulded octagonal stacks. The station has an L-shaped plan.
On the south-east platform front, there is an internal porch on the left, which has two 4-centred arches, a two-light mullion window, and two plank doors, all set within 4-centred arch surrounds. To the right, there is a two-light canted bay window, and above it are two two-light mullion windows. Further to the left, there is a single-storey range with a single two-light mullion window. Beyond this is a lower timber entrance porch with a gable facing the street, featuring clapboarding and glazed windows. The station was built for the Yorkshire and North Midland Railway Company.
