Description
Earldoms Lodge is a detached house dating from the early 17th century, with additions made in the late 17th century and the 1920s. It features Flemish bond brickwork and a tiled roof with brick stacks. The house is two stories tall and has a six-window front. The central entrance consists of a four-panelled door set within a 19th-century gabled porch. Flanking the door are two 20-pane sash windows, with two four-pane sashes to the left and a two-light casement to the right. On the first floor, there are six two-light casements. The left side has one two-light casement, while the right side features a three-light casement on the ground floor and a two-light casement on the first floor. At the rear, there is a 1920s verandah supported by wooden posts, with French windows to the right, a 20-pane sash window, two-light casements, and a planked door in a beaded case. The first floor includes five two-light casements and an external stack. To the left, there is a two-storey extension from the 1920s. Inside, the kitchen, which is part of the late 17th-century addition, has chamfered beams with ogee stops, while the early 17th-century dining room features chamfered beams with step and run-out stops. The sitting room has an early 19th-century fireplace with a reeded surround and paterae. The first floor also contains 18th-century planked doors with strap hinges. This house serves as the farmhouse for Earldoms Farm.
