Description

The lychgate west of Colbury Christ Church, dating from around 1870 and likely designed by B Ferrey, features ashlar stone plinth walls and a timber frame with a plain tile roof. The structure has longitudinal plinth walls supporting a timber-framed design, with each end truss consisting of curved braces connecting short uprights to a tie beam. It includes five brackets supporting a jettied collar that is topped by a king-post. The lychgate is adorned with carved bargeboards that have inscriptions, and there is a pair of gates inside.
