Description
Colbury Christ Church is a parish church built in 1870 by B Ferrey. The church features walls made of flint with stone dressings, a plinth, bands at cill and impost level, a decorated eaves band, and stepped buttresses. It has a plain tile roof with scalloped hoods and a western bell turret that has a shingled battered base. The turret is topped with an open timber-frame that includes cusped and quatrefoil decoration, along with shingled broach spires and spirelets. The church has an aisleless nave consisting of four bays and a chancel with three bays, located to the south of the chancel, along with a north porch. The nave contains lancet windows that are coupled beneath quatrefoils, featuring plate tracery. The east window has three lights with Geometrical tracery, while the west gable displays two lancets separated by stepped buttresses, which are connected at the lower level by sloping weathering to create a wide frame for the west door. The gabled porch features a wood framework with cusped openings and loose panels above a stone plinth. The interior is Victorian, including a half-glazed timber-framed inner porch.
