Description
Gins Farmhouse, now a house, dates to around 1700, with alterations likely made in the 18th or 19th century, and potentially built on the site of an earlier structure. The building is constructed of rubble stone with brick dressings, and includes brick additions and areas of tilehanging, all beneath an old plain tile roof. It is an L-shaped building, the main three-bay range projecting to the right-hand end of a slightly lower two-bay wing, which itself has a two-bay 18th-century addition. The entrance front is located within the angle of the L-shape. A two-storey, early 19th-century square porch with battlements stands on the corner, featuring a panelled front door and tall windows on the first floor. A gabled porch with a glazed door is located to the left, alongside a three-light casement window in a brick frame. The left-hand bays of the original wing have two-light casement windows. On the first floor, a blocked brick opening is visible against the corner porch, alongside two-light casement windows in the other bays. The projecting right-hand section has three-light casement windows within brick frames, and a brick lean-to runs along one end. Brick ridge stacks are positioned at either end of the original range and over the front bay of the projecting section.
