Description

The Dairy is a mid-19th century building located in Brockenhurst Park. It is constructed of buff-coloured brick and features a fish-scale slate roof with ornate pierced bargeboards and pendants at the gable ends and eaves. The building has a T-shaped plan, consisting of a large single-storey main range and a two-storey wing at the centre of the south front, which serves as the entrance.

The exterior is symmetrical with a three-bay south front that is blind on the left and right sides. The central gabled wing projects forward and has a jettied first floor, which includes a three-light chamfered brick window and a chamfered doorway below, set in a slight recess with a panelled Gothic door. The rear (north) side is also single-storey and features three bays, with three small square chamfered window openings on the left and right, and a central doorway topped by a brick gabled canopy supported by large corbel brackets, along with a course of saw-tooth brick corbelling above the doorway. The east and west gable ends have shallow brick oriels and blind diamond-shaped panels in the gables. The building has brick weathering at the plinth.

Inside, the Dairy consists of one large room in the north range that is open to the queen-post roof, although the dairy fittings are missing.
