14/30 Arcade incorporating grotto immediately west of Walhampton House

Arcade, including summer dining-room and wall incorporating older grotto. Grotto C18, rest 1914. Arcade of Portland stone columns and entablature, rest brick. Arcade is connected to side of music room, with 3m long arcade at right angles to rest, and main arcade is some 50m long, central 20m being dining-room. Doric columns and entablature of plain triglyphs with tile-on-edge squares between, modillioned cornice and low parapet. Dining-room has to each side niche over-hanging entablature on columns. At far end, at right-angles, stage with rear wall and flanking walls, one of which connects to arcade. On returns of flanking walls stone archway. Behind flanking wall to arcade is C18 grotto now incorporated. This is seen from one archway and has many forms in shell patterns on walls and vaulted roof of room.
